Re: Extreme Model M Modding (m122 chop and 1u layout mod)
I made this in 2011 and has been my daily driver since. Typing on it right now. It doesn't show well in the picture, but the Caps Lock key has blue LED indicator under it. Beautiful! I really want to do an ANSI mod and an inverted-T arrow mod on an M122, that would make it vastly more usable for me...

Re: [WTS] NIB German AEK 2
Ouch! That's dreadful. Wish I was in a position to take it off your hands- will check back when I'm more flush. I've gotten used to ISO and ISO-like layouts thanks to a few weird boards in my possession. Do you still want an AEK II? Unless it's NOS, then probably not honestly. Paper mods have never...

Re: [WTS] NIB German AEK 2
Let me put it to your this way: the cost of the board was originally $50 plus $50 ship, that somehow turned into $90 ship plus various fees. Plus, it's ISO, which as we all know is borderline unusable.raoulduke-esq wrote: ↑14 Apr 2021, 21:46What’s to regret? Those legends are beautiful and the switches are great.

[WTS] NIB German AEK 2
Regretted this purchase even before the extra shipping cost. This is located in the US, not Germany, but I can still ship back if necessary. Has dampened whites, completely new never used.
Asking 150 plus ship, extremely negotiable price.

Re: Is There a Discord for Vintage Keyboards?
Deskthority itself has a Discord server, actually. The invite is linked to the chat icon in the hotbar. There are a few others I can think of, but some are a bit more exclusive than others, so to speak.

Sorry for my idiocy, but what exactly is the point of this? Couldn't you just use a $5 adapter from Amazon if you needed to change I/O?

Interesting. If I remember correctly, Oak switches were used in the (presumably) clone industrial F XT. Just a coincidence, or something worth looking into?

Re: Custom Case for Zenith ZKB-7 aka Eazy PC
It is :D So here are a few veryyyy rough renders of how I imagined the 3d printed case design. Please keep in mind that I didn't have the dimensions of the Zenith board, hence it's just a rough model. Let me know what you think, I believe that this option could be done rather easier than the full m...

Re: Deskthority blog/articles - thoughts, opinions, contributions?
Giving people another chance to talk down to users is always bad. Uplifting certain """distinguished""" members of the community to a higher status is just a recipe for disaster, and I am fully against a blog of some kind. Maybe a collaboration to write some kind of "Hitchhiker's Guide to Keyboards"...

I considered just redoing the matrix on mine to swap the fn and ctrl keys, but that is definitely not in store for a while. Soon enough!

Re: Unknown C.Itoh Keyboard
Doesn't solve the problem of the caps that were missing before it even got to me though. I might just repair enough to fill the main row, and use other caps on the 4 key block above the numpad.

Re: Unknown C.Itoh Keyboard
Beautiful! Are those spherical PBT dye subs? The stems and the key caps can probably be glued back together. Replacement key caps, good luck. You'd be best off using an existing key cap to cast a replacement. Extremely thick doubleshots. I originally thought they were black, but to my surprise it t...

Unknown C.Itoh Keyboard
So I picked up this c.itoh board off of eBay quite a while ago: s-l1600.jpg It wasn't in the best state condition-wise when it finally got to me, with two of the top keycaps breaking off during shipping and the board itself having many scuffs on it. However the switches were shockingly clean for the...
