Is the IBM KB-9910 Good?

Just wondering in case I take a gamble. How's the typing feel from experienced users?

While I am most probably right that this doesn't have Alps switches, I also checked and there's a good probability that this thing probably doesn't speak AT or XT.
It's probably why the listing for it was cheap

…or those of us lucky enough to be buying vintage boards in the 2000s- 2010s . ;) Here's the thing with keyboards, though: will they ever drop off a cliff again? You can see the current bear market as a cohort effect where lots of first hand nostalgia is fuelling an ever bigger pool of demand for g...

Re: Vintage Increases Value?

Prices for anything that looks beige and 80s/90s have shot up a ton lately. Since 2019 or so specifically, there was a general creep upward before then but right before COVID everything really started to go high and has just shot off like a rocket since then. It's not just old keyboards either. Vin...

Re: Longterm Daily Drivers

My Cherry G80-1800 with Kailh Polias, to be honest. I am not even sure why. After using a more "interesting" keyboard for a while, returning to the G80-1800 is always comfortable. I'm a basic bitch, I guess. I've seen people mod G80s and customise them with their own switches. Are they usually a re...

Keycaps With Multiple Legends

Since recently opening my mind to using ANSI layout as I was initially adamant on using anything but ISO, I discoverd the method of switching the language from UK to US using Alt+Shift-- mind blown . So now my question is: can I get keycaps with multiple legends that would (for example) show both # ...

Re: Longterm Daily Drivers

My first vintage keyboard was a Dell AT102W and it's stood the test of time. When I first had it, it was a mess and I've spent a LOT of time on it cleaning it, messing with the switches (which were surprisingly clean) and using it for all tasks. It's a great keyboard and I've used it without the tac...

I could do £40 incl. postage if that would appeal? Here it is. A good number of keys for a small footprint. I enjoy my other one in my rotation (I used to have a keyboard, now I have a rotation. Deskthority itself has a Discord server, actually. The invite is linked to the chat icon in the hotbar. There are a few others I can think of, but some are a bit more exclusive than others, so to speak.

Re: Vintage Increases Value?

I've read that there's a big difference in key feel between the 5100Cs with DIN connectors and those with PS2. I have one with the former, and it's certainly not mushy - in fact, it's one of my most tactile keyboards. (I have a spare new old stock one which I'd be happy to let go for what it cost m...

Has anyone tried the rubber/silicone mod or the 'loom band' mod where you use one of these instead of floss? They appear to be a much more elegant and cheaper solution than the foam mod.

Re: Vintage Increases Value?

Luckily they're still relatively cheap. Don't get a 5100c thinking it will give the same feel though. That's a much more linear dome, fairly mushy. That's quite unfortunate. I was actually considering getting a 5100c thinking it was going to be just as good as 5149's, 5131c's, 5130's etc. Thanks fo...

What would be the best method for you Model M experts to suppress the spring reverberance and reduce overall noise? [WTT] Looking for BTC Dome w/Slider in UK ISO

I was wondering if anyone is willing to trade a BTC dome with slider keyboard that's in UK ISO layout. I've heard good things about these switches and I've been itching to try them because I'm a big tactile fan. Any in the 51 series should be okay, but I've mainly had my eyes on the BTC 5100c Mini M...

[WTB] Looking for UK ISO BTC Dome w/Slider Sellers

I was wondering if anyone knows of or is willing to sell a BTC dome with slider keyboard that's in UK ISO layout. I've seen one which unfortunately disappeared (likely sold) recently on FB marketplace and I know of another in French ISO (which isn't ideal for me).

Thanks in advance!
