Re: [New Product] Kailh Silent Box Switch

3.6mm of travel is a deal breaker for me on full sized. It's why I couldn't use the "Romer-G" or "Gamma Zulu" switches.

Here are the bare zinc cases (already claimed for these samples but you can of course remove the paint of yours - not sure about sanding). Might want a clear coat or something to protect it. 20160714_195852 - Copy - Copy (2).jpg 20160714_201105 - Copy - Copy (2).jpg Would I have any issues if I got...

Re: Unicomp - New Model M review

Can you replace the spacebar with a longer one, in order to remove that horrible button on the right that takes the place of the alt gr? What are you talking about? The RALT key (Alt or AltGr) is in the correct position and is of the correct size (1.5u). They had every opportunity to fix the bottom...

V2 domes are compatible with the Realforce RGB it seems (whatever that means?)
It means that there are cutouts for the surface mount LEDs on the Realforce RGB PCB. I did a thorough teardown of one back in December/January; look around for the photos if curious.

Re: IBM Soft Touch Model M mod - has anyone tried this?

Mostly unused, admittedly, but my big concern was hardening or running of the lubricant over time.

Simulating a million or so strokes takes a drill, a jig, and a month.

Re: Variable weighting, potentially analog switch interest check

Sorry if I was not clear. My latency concern was for dynamically varying force on the switch while typing by, say, varying current through a solenoid. There would be on the order of a hundred to a thousand sample points in a 4mm key stroke and a desire to vary force within a very tight window. I'm n...

Just a toothpick but I was working on a flipper and spring assembly that was out of the keyboard. You just want to coat the coils of the spring, not fill it. I'll see if I can get some photos to make it more clear.

Haha. You are welcome to send me a keyboard! The shipping will be prohibitive! It would be cheaper for me to send you the grease.

I have plenty of Model Ms here to donate to the cause. This has been on my back burner since ... 2016?

That Soft Touch Model M is neat. Never heard of such a thing. Yeah someone already bought them, its something I don't see elsewhere that much. Definitely Quieter than a normal M. They're pretty rare. Lexmark/Unicomp M122 PS/2 scan differences

(I cannot take credit for this tip. A fellow named "Ian" who is local included this tip on a posting for an M122 which has since been sold.) The keyboard should work well in Linux (once a nice custom keymap is set up); however, you will need to patch the Linux PS/2 port driver ("drivers/input/serio/...

I'd consider trading one of these three boards for a Space Cadet. If you happen to have a Space Cadet send me a PM. I'd maybe consider trading for a working Optimus Maximus plus cash. Don't really want to get rid of these boards. Money alone isn't that much of a motivation since it's easier for me t...

Re: Who wants to calc for ever?

It's a wild guess but this seems like a numpad that could have been sold for an IBM portable computer in the early 90s. That would explain the cover. That looks like a PS/2 port, which could be primary connection, or pass-through for a mouse. The raw matrix - five rows and four columns - is exposed ...
