Hello,

I gifted someone a model M but she uses a macbook, so she bought a converter. However it didn't work, so I thought I'd ask here; Where can I buy a converter in the netherlands that actually does work with the model M? This is mainly for the dutchies here.

thanks

I'm not sure if it is a similar problem or is it related to MacBook or OSX.

In this post, the blogger connected his Model M to a MacBook with a PS/2 to USB adapter.

Spoiler:
Otherwise, PS/2 to USB connection problems also happens to SGI Granite keyboard that some PS/2 to USB converters do not work. https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=11461.0
Currently the Lindy USB to PS/2 Adapter works for me to connect the Granite to my ThinkPad.

Spoiler:
In the past, my Model M13 could connect to my ThinkPad using another adapter.

Thanks, apparently I need an active adapter, instead of a passive one.

I'm wondering if this is one:

It looks like one, but it doesn't say it is.

edit: bumping in hope someone knows if the adapter above would work ;S

Probably not. There's no mention at all of it being active or it having a chip of some sort.

hmpf, that's dissapointing, I can't seem to find one in the netherlands. Do you perhaps know of one I can buy in europe, maybe on amazon.co.uk/amazon.de?

edit: This one, for example, says "aktiv":
https://www.amazon.de/2-Adapter-f%C3%BC ... iv+ps2+usb

would that kind of, guarantee it? or could it still not work

I _think_ that any adapter that has two PS/2 connectors one one side and that bulge in the middle is active. That's speaking just from my own experience. Let us know if you encounter one that isn't.

That one should be okay; one of the reviews mentions it works for his Model M. If in doubt about one of these converters just ask if it's compatible with a Model M and that should tell you - if it works with an M, it will work as an active converter.

I had this connected to my Model M from a 2011 MBP, but it stopped working after couple weeks.

This (below) works - I'm using it right now.

You can get it from Amazon.https://www.amazon.com/Sewell-Active-Ad ... +to+ps%2F2

There's another USB to PS/2 adapter that looks exactly like this one but costs $3 more. I went for the cheapest (see URL above) and it worked.
