Cherry G80-3600 Mouseboard (yes, 3600!)

I must have missed this when it came up on Reddit last month. It's a original-style Cherry Mouseboard with the Mousepad, like the 3500. But the model number is G80-3600. I assumed a typo on the part of the uploader - but it is 3600, and there's even a FCC application under that number.

So a) there appears to have been another original-style Mouseboard, and b) this seems to be a reused model number - very unusual for Cherry. (Fortunately the later MX-Board 3600s have five-letter codes, so it's fairly easy to tell the two 3600s apart.) I also wonder how this is different from the 3500 - the difference in model number suggests there's some relatively significant difference. Controller revision, perhaps, with a change in functions to explain the change from Repeat to Mode.

Anyone seen one of these before?

I don't like it, it's UGLY. Considering how rare this is it should go for $$$ amongst the Cherry high-rollers. I wonder if photekq has one? This is what I expect a "mouseboard" to look like:

and what was the behemothic one with all the keys in the normal places and a trackball?

Now this is an interesting parallel I didn't know about - Focus made a keyboard with a similar arrangement for the cursor keys, but they stuck with a trackball for the pointing device, so there was room for larger cursor buttons. Thinking about it, it's logical that a mouse-like device (as opposed to a trackball) would require more space. Perhaps Cherry's engineer liked mice...

Yes, both the Chicony KB-5581 and the Focus Electronics FK-7000P are way nicer than the Chicony KB-5591 I posted. I love those integrated trackballs. I got a Marquardt from kbdfr some time ago with a nice yellow trackball:
