Hello!
I just recived this keyboard from my friend. It's not in the best condition, but hey, it will do as a generic "clicky tactile mechanical kb". I removed the cable, needs some soldering and heat shrinking job.
Can someone please identify theese switches and the type of the keyboard for me please?
And can someone tell me how to disassemble theese switches to lubricate them?
Thank you for any info!

Tai-Hao Aruz switch, a nice Alps SKCM clone:

wiki/Tai-Hao#Keyswitches

Looks like your FAME keyboard has taken some damage. :o

Welcome to DT!

I don't remember if the top comes off like on Alps SKCM. Since I don't have any here I can't check that now. Dra should know:

You can also have a look at this:

First of floor, desloder all switches.
You can use the - screw driver to open the top of the switch shell(two side plastic lock) carefully. The plastic lock can break easily. And I suggest that don't take out two contact leaves because they're thin and need much force to pull out. The result is less then 40% switches were completed to disassemble all parts.
This is the poor disassemble switch design I ever seen.

If I desolder it, will it fall out?

Yes, it takes out from the plate easily.

Got it!
Can I wash the bottom part of the switches, containing the contact leaves?
Dishwashing liquid, and then rinse them off with cold water? Or it will leave corrosion?
I took appart All of the switches, and I'm soaking the sliders, and the top half of the switches. Can I soak them too?

I'd advise never to wash or rinse any electronic components with water. It promotes corrosion, leaves residue, and is hard to get out of tight spaces. If you want to use some kind of fluid, use iPrOH which is electronics-safe.

You just have to pour out 10% to obtain pure ethanol

(just as a precaution: this is of course a joke!)

Actually your right, these days you cannot be careful enough when giving advice online. ;) I would not tell anyone what they can or cannot drink. :?

I guess now I owe you a better response :)

It's a good idea to use something like pressured air to clean the lower switch assembly. There isn't much else you can do unless you want to go the extra mile and desolder everything, remove the switch components, clean them individually and then put them back into the cleaned shell.

Tiny bit. What can I use?
Engine oil? Sewingmachine oil? Wd-40?

These will attract dirt. I used WD-40-branded PTFE grease, which I got in local bauhaus. They only had spray variant, and if you can get brush variant, that would be better.

Unless it's really bothering you I'd advise against lubing Alps-like switches until someone has found a way that actually works ;) .

Hey,

I know I'm late to the party and you emailed me about the switch disassembly but my DT email isn't my primary email and my current ROM doesn't push all my gmail stuff like it should.

Since you already figured it out on your own I'll just spoiler the disassembly
Spoiler:
Image
Latch of the switch, 1 per side, it's closer to cherry mx since the switch can't be opened while it's stuck in the plate
Image
Top off, just slide a thin thing in there and lever it up, there's not a big bump to overcome so it should be fairly simple
funny that you should say that Chyros, the Aruz are already prelubed and you can definitely feel it

Probably why they feel so good, just like 1st gen Alps switches, and why they stand out so much compared to the other clones :) . I really enjoy my Aruz board :D .

Sorry late to reply. Use your own way or others advice to wash it both works.
Since I use the water with body wash for the 1st washing and the floor wash for the 2nd washing on the Ultrasonic cleaner.
And then using the Alcohol wet tissue to clean the switch parts in detail. Finally, landing it one day.(I used the dehumidifiers for few hours because of the Hong Kong wet weather)
These ways are not make it corrosion. Because the corrosion of copper will take a week in water. I test it before.
And the important thing is this dirty boy had been landed in raining day many times before you take it, so work it for your best.
